This is the next step in evolution. Oh yeah, the larvae just poof into adult form instantly. Sadly, Urban Stingbies are some of the few non-capturable enemies in the game… but I guess it’s the price to pay for perfection. The pointy part being on the face sure does make a lot more sense for a mosquito, huh? Silly Stingby. Do the people of New Donk City just kinda… deal with this? Turn the wrong corner and have to deal with giant death mosquitoes and actual straight-up tanks?Īs the name implies, these are a variation of the Stingbies from Super Mario 3D Land. I guess they probably made them so puffy to make them less scary, because I have no doubt that this thing could easily kill a human with a bite alone. Love those real-deal compound eyes! And that proboscis looks… incredibly painful. Caterpillars are already the only larvae most people seem to care about, but where’s the respect for the little baby janitors who clean up so much of the nastiness we don’t want?īut these maggots don’t just turn into any flies, they turn into big poofy mosquitoes! Real mosquito larvae are actually aquatic and don’t look much like a maggot at all, but that’s okay because here we get two iconic dipteran stages for the price of one. And I feel like that’s something you don’t see enough of in the media. Like the simple, featureless blobbiness of a bee larva, now with big, glowy, hypno-eyes, always a wonderful feature! But these are no bees, these are grade A, bona fide maggots. LARVA! I love a larva! And these larvae are simply flawless. The creativity of Super Mario Land 2, on a grand 3D scale, and even allowing us to play as weird Mario enemies?! Amazing! Of course, one of the great things about Super Mario Land 2 is all the bugs. I think it might be the best game I’ve ever played.
Odyssey is… dang, it’s just the mosquito’s knees. We’re finally (truly) covering Odyssey, ya see! And not only that, with a BUG!

…But today, we aren’t going to talk about enemies at all, because what this game also has is some fantastic Weird Mario Friends! To put things simple, there’s a lot of kingdoms in the game, and most of them have their own NPCs that we all love as dearly as the many friends and foes and spooky tree aliens we’ve featured on this blogs in months past, so sit back, as all three WME mods talk about the wonderful new NPCs we see in this game! Sorry to take a break from the Halloween goodness, but it’s the one year anniversary of Super Mario Odyssey! Hard to believe it’s been a whole year, isn’t it? There’s no denying this game is absolutely, how do we put this, “perfect” for a lack of even better compliments, with some vast, detailed worlds, many small fun challenges, and of course, lots of cool new Weird Mario Enemies! I’m gaga for Goombette! goombette super mario odyssey mario allies mario mario enemies mod chikako Yep! It’s Mario! The perfect man, as we all know! When Mario captures a Goomba and approaches Goombette, she’ll give him a Power Moon! And the best part? When you do this in enough kingdoms, you can get a Moon called “Gaga for Goombette”. A Goomba with eyes as blue as the sky… a luxurious, well-groomed mustache… a bright cap that shows he’s not afraid to stand out from the crowd… But as beautiful as she is, Goombette is somehow still single! She won’t settle for just any old Goomba. You know? They’re almost like parodies of themselves!Įven if she didn’t have the hat, you could tell Goombette is female because she’s pink and has eyelashes, both traits that are only ever true for girls. Goombette is the kind of character who would say “ Yoo-hoo!”. …and while I still feel the same way, I gotta say, I’m becoming more of a fan of designs like Goombette! For the very same reasons I used to dislike them, I now find them wonderfully silly. I want more non-standard female characters, dangit! A female character’s design doesn’t have to always scream “female”! You know, a few years ago I probably would have disliked Goombette.
